RobotController

The Recon Scout™ miniature mobile tactical video robot (TacVidBot) provides real-time video reconnaissance of hostile or dangerous environments. It saves lives by allowing your personnel to gather mission-critical information prior to entering these environments. Constructed of aircraft aluminum and titanium, the incredibly rugged Recon Scout can be thrown through a window, tossed over a wall or dropped from a low-flying unmanned aerial vehicle. It can even be launched pyrotechnically via the optional 12-ga Launching System.

Once deployed, its movement is controlled at a distance using a hand-held Operator Control Unit and it immediately begins transmitting live video of the situation.

Small enough and light enough for deployment by patrol officers prior to the arrival of SWAT or ESU. Advance intel observed via the RECON SCOUT™ can mean the difference between a false alarm and a full-blown hostage situation.

The Recon Scout™ Operator Control Unit (OCU) is a rugged hand-held device used to control the movement of the Recon Scout and to receive live, high-quality video from the Recon Scout as it moves through an environment. The OCU is small and light weight, and can be operated with just one hand. Total set-up time takes less than 20 seconds: simply attached the two antennas and turn on the OCU. Movement of the Recon Scout is controlled by a simple thumb-operated joystick in the center of the OCU.

Recon Scout Kit

Purpose-built to provide rapid deployment and real-time intelligence of critical incident locations where hostiles or hazards prevent physical entry by officers or agents.

The Recon Scout™ is your man on the inside. It’s rugged, stealthy, mobile and unfailingly dependable, and it’s designed to take whatever abuse the job demands.

Throw it through a window, over a wall, or down the stairs and it lands ready-to-go. You can even drop it from an unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicle. Once deployed, you can control its movement at a distance using a hand-held operator control unit. The Recon Scout™ helps you explore hostile, hazardous or dangerous environments by providing real-time mission-critical reconnaissance video that enables your teams to act quickly, safely and decisively, from a distance.

Investigate dark spaces like attics, basements, crawl spaces, air ducts, even tunnels and culverts. Simply pull the Activation Key and toss the Recon Scout™ into any situation where hostiles or hazards may exist.

Pre-place the Recon Scout™'s TacVidBot using the OCU into locations not easily accessible for standard video transmission devices or installers. Once in place, just plug a DVR into the provided jack on the OCU and record the operation as it goes down.

Before you send in your team, send in your Recon Scout™.

Large specialized Robots require dedicated transport & dedicated operators

A typical heavy robot takes up to 3+ hours to transport to scene with 30+ minutes to unload and set up.

With the Recon Scout™, you're set up and running in under 3 minutes

Rugged

All the components of the Recon Scout™ – from its sophisticated electronics and protective titanium shell to its cast urethane wheels and flexible antennas – are designed to withstand the rigors of the job. The Recon Scout™ can survive a vertical throw of 120 feet and a vertical drop of 30 feet. It can be thrown through a window or down several flights of stairs and still be ready to move and transmit video. Using the optional Launching System, the TacVidBot can be projected through standard pane windows using a standard 12-ga. Built to withstand being kicked or stepped on in most tactical situations.

Easy to Use

To use the Recon Scout™ you simply pull the activation pin. It is now ready to receive signals to move, from the operator control unit (OCU). To activate the OCU, you attach the color-coded antennas to the top of the unit, switch on the unit. Total time to activate both units: less than 20 seconds.

Small

The Recon Scout™ weighs just one pound and is small enough to be carried in a pocket or attached to a vest. The entire unit is just seven inches in length and the 1.5-inch diameter of the shell makes is easy to carry by hand or throw.

Stealthy

The Recon Scout™ has a matte black finish that makes it hard to detect indoors and out. It also moves extremely quietly on its tactile Urethane traction wheels with a maximum decibel level of just 20 decibels. By comparison, a whisper measures 30 decibels.

Maneuverable

The Recon Scout™ can easily negotiate hostile or dangerous environments. It can quietly move down hallways and peer inside rooms, and it is small enough to easily move under tables, chairs and other furniture. The Recon Scout™ can give a 360-degree scan of a room in less than five seconds, and can reverse its line of site in one second. With operator practice, can overcome common household thresholds and flooring transitions. Optional Frequency changeability so that the Recon Scout™ Transceiver can co-operate independently with your heavy Bomb Robot is pending.

Perceptive

The Recon Scout™ transmits a sharp, clear view of any situation. Its black and white 600 LOR image sensor has a 60-degree field of view on both the vertical and horizontal axis, and with a light sensitivity of 0.0003 lux, it performs extremely well in very low light. View can be adjusted to a higher or lower inclination by simply bending the Self-Balancer. See under and around furniture and into poorly lit rooms. 0 LUX IR Illumination option is pending. Optional sound reception is pending.

Powerful

The Recon Scout™ transmits 30fps streaming video more than 250 feet outdoors, and 100 feet indoors (through walls, doors, windows, etc. depending upon construction). This allows the operator to control the Recon Scout™ from a safe distance in a secure location.

Quick

You control the speed of the Recon Scout™ with the simple joystick on the OCU. You can keep it motionless, allow it to creep along while scanning the scene, or let it traverse a space at one foot per second. It can provide moving reconnaissance of a 30-foot hall way and 20-foot room in less than 60 seconds.

Instantly Deployable

Open the case, remove the TacVidBot and OCU, Install the 2 BIN connector antennas to the OCU, pull the Activation pin of the TacVidBot, and toss it through an open door, through a plate glass window, down a stairwell, or up into an attic or crawl space. Multi-system capabilities for side by side operability is pending. Optional Weapon Launching System is pending.

Serviceability

Purchase a renewable one-year service contract that will provide worry-free factory repair of both the TacVidBot and the OCU. This is not a child's toy and is compiled with highly sophisticated electronics. With the optional service contract, you don't have to worry about crushed or shot TacVidBot repairs. Just pack the system up and ship it back. The repaired unit will be returned in fully-operational order ASAP.

Recon_Scout_Launchers

The TacVidBot can be launched through standard structure glass windows via the
optional Launching System featuring a Launching Cup and low-impulse pyrotechnic Launching Cartridges.

The Launching System attaches to a 12-ga shotgun and launches the TacVidBot contained in it's own Launcher Sabot. The shock-absorbing Sabot has a glass-breaking tip and once the assembly has landed, breaks away to allow the TacVidBot to proceed with it's mission unencumbered.

You can send in a RECON-SCOUT™ into upper floors for immediate Real-Time intelligence!
