DeSantis Defense™
a division of DeSantis Holster & Leather Co.
In an effort to provide support in the defense of our homeland, DeSantis© has a new division solely for the purpose of marketing products directly to law enforcement. We are proud to represent this new division.

Designed for domestic and foreign operations where maximum firepower needs to be discreetly carried, the DSD from DeSantis is the answer. The rig facilitates the ability to carry a pistol-caliber SMG as well as an additional 2 full-sized magazines all the while presenting no visible weapons at hand. Both hands of the security agent are free to open doors, manipulate crowds and direct the assigned principal’s direction are greatly enhanced thanks to the secure weapon attachments. The rig features a “quick-detach” system that allows for rapid disengagement of the weapon from the rig if extended incident engagement occurs. Depending on the weapon system; easily concealed under a wind breaker or mid-length jacket.

Both the weapon side and the magazine side attach to the wearer's belt and all subcomponents adjust for height and girth of wearer.

The DSD rig is intended to be not weapon-specific by design. Due to ever changing armament availability to operators in non-conforming work environments, the DSD is field-configurable to support the chosen weapon. To promote balance in weight distribution, the DSD is intended to be worn with 2 loaded magazines secured in the mag pouches.  Belt tie-downs are provided to secure the rig at both hips. This is essential to prevent the mag pouches and/or the weapon from swinging into view if the operator needs to bend forward while observable by spectators. The center-back adjustment point should be set so that the loaded rig’s weight is centered.

How to set up the DSD rig to your weapon:
As with any manipulation of a weapon, insure that it is unloaded and that it’s chamber is empty.

A strong attachment point for the suspension hook needs to be determined.

· On full-size MP-5 type weapons, the rear sling ring,

· On ultra-short M-4 platforms, a receiver extension sling mount,

· On UMP types, the rear sling attachment point,

· On 9mm M16 SMG platforms or other types where the stock would rise up too far if the attachment point were at the receiver, an attachment point at the rear or mid-point of the collapsible stock needs to be implemented.

The provided split-ring is for utilization as the hard attachment point but the physical attachment of the ring to the weapon is up to the wearer. A loop length of Para-cord passed through and around the sling attachment points on the selected weapon can be used. (end-user sourced),

Securing the weapon with the mid-point retention strap

The retention strap (with the snap) is user-adjustable to fit around either the receiver/trigger group on weapons like the MP-5, MP-5K, UMP, UZI or in the case of a 9mm M16 SMG, around the rear most portion of the receiver just forward of the extinction tube.

Adjust the strap at the buckle so that the snap and it’s tab can be rapidly reached as the weapon is acquired by the shooting hand. This strap should be positioned on the weapon so that it holds the weapon tight to the wearer’s side, at a position just forward of the strong side hip.

CAUTION: Ensure that this strap does not pass through the weapon’s trigger guard.

Most if not all of the DSD rig’s intended weapons have optional 10 or 15 round magazines and utilizing such while so armed, would reduce the weapon’s signature imprinting through the concealing clothing.

Method of acquiring and presenting weapon from DSD Rig  (Example UMP)

In your setting up this rig for the first time, read this through twice to understand it’s operation.

The operator, using the strong hand, reaches under the concealing clothing, and with fingers extended, lifts the retention strap snap tab which releases the weapon to be swung up once a proper grip of the weapon’s pistol grip is achieved. Target engagement or a “weapons up” mode can be maintained at this point or if the situation dictates, the suspension ring release tether can be pulled in a direction which retracts the spring-loaded hook-catch. At the same time as the operator is tugging the tether, the weapon is lifted slightly so that the receiver-mounted suspension ring is released permitting the weapon to be operated detached from the rig.

Adjust the rig to best facilitate.
